What is Divination?

Divination is not fortune-telling though it is often mistaken for it in the popular imagination. In fortune-telling the future is fixed and one merely learns what is to happen. Divination is a means of gaining insight about past, current and future events which enables one to then make informed decisions. It is not an easy route to anything because it does not absolve one of responsibility for one's actions. The decisions ultimately still lie with the person receiving the reading and they can chose to ignore the advice given though they will be aware of possible consequences of so doing.

Divination can take many forms though probably the best known are the Tarot cards. The runes are one of the less popular in many respects though phrases about knowing or consulting the runes are frequently used in modern business communication as a short-hand way of referring to predicting or planning for the future.
