What is the Death Rune

This is a somewhat fanciful name sometimes given to the Eihwaz (Eoh) rune. Traditionally this rune, which links to the Yew tree, was sometimes used on tombstones and is thus associated with death. It is a rune of change and endings but one that is often protective also.

Novice rune-casters are often worried by the appearance of this rune in a reading, usually unnecessarily. While it can indicate an actual death (as can other runes) this is rare and like the Tarot "Death" card should mostly be read symbolically, indicating the death of a friendship, the end of a job, the shedding of old ways or bad habits etc.
