How to Translate Modern English to Runes?

It should be said at the outset that the modern English alphabet contains 26 letters whereas the runic Elder Futhark only contained 24 characters several of which represented sound combinations rather than individual letters. Hence there is no easy or universally agreed way to transcribe modern the English alphabet into runes.

Having made the controversial nature of such translation clear, we do though recognise why many people will wish to do this and you will find a table below which will assist. Most scholars who provide such tables offer several alternatives for particular letters and sometimes combinations of runes such as (k+s=x). We believe that asking this question in this way means you are probably not someone interested in these scholarly debates. Hence we offer a very simple translation method. It is probably flawed, but will meet your needs:
