Reading

In Freya Aswynn's Principles of Runes, read pages 89-92, the section entitled "A three rune spread" .(this extract is available for registered students only at the Student Site).

This does partly lead us into the next Lesson on interpreting multi-rune spreads but Aswynn takes each rune individually and her interpretation is quite simple to follow so you shouldn't struggle with it. You will notice that Aswynn's layout of the Staves of Wyrd spread is somewhat different to what we have previously encountered, however the titles of the positions are the same so you shouldn't face any problems resulting from this.

As with all reading on this course, take it slowly, check you understand, and decide if you agree. There are some very dubious interpretations found in books on the runes so you cannot simply accept interpretations as correct just because they have been published.

Further Exercises

  1. Marjory is concerned about her relationship with Richard. She feels they are growing apart and notices how much more often they argue now than they did. After yet another row she draws Odin's Rune to gain clarification on their relationship. She draws Isa (Is). How would you interpret this for her?

  2. In the same scenario, Marjory draws Gebo instead. What would your interpretation of this be?
