Comprehension Test

1. What is the chief problem with buying long distance?
   That we cannot be sure of the quality of goods or the reliability of the supplier

2. What materials were runes traditionally made from?
   Bone or wood

3. With respect to the runes, what may some local craftspeople permit you to undertake?
   They may permit you to undertake some routine tasks in the making of your rune set, such as removing stones from clay or stirring paint

4. Name an author whose book comes with a set of runes
   The best known is Ralph Blum and he is the example given in the lecture but there are many others. Tyson's books come with sets of rune cards and dice and Silver Ravenwolf's book comes with a set of rune cards. You may well have chosen someone else which is fine.

5. Why do some book stores also sell divinatory materials?
   Because there is a demand for them and because it encourages the sale also of related books

6. What types of errors/difficulties may you encounter with a purchased set of runes?
   Unusual number of runes, not the 24 of the Elder Futhark and non-standard glyph designs or those from different historical periods combined

7. What is it that will be greater in an object you have made as opposed to you purchased?
   The immediate psychic connection to yourself

8. How should the glyph on a rune be?
   Clear and in a prominent position

9. Name two materials, other than those in your answer to question 2, from which runes are made today
   Look back in the lecture, glass, plastic, leather, clay etc among others

10. What is an advantage of buying your runes over the internet?
    You don't have to be content with what is available locally and in many cases you can have your rune set personalized in the way you could with a local craftsperson

1. Did you find a material for runes which particularly appealed? Were you impressed with the range of rune sets available over the web? Since this was only to give you an idea of what is out there the answer to the second question doesn't really matter, but the first question is crucial and if you haven't found a material you like yet, keep searching.

2. Most people should have been able to find someone suitable in their area. In many cases you may have been surprised how many were out there when you started looking.
