Reading

In Freya Aswynn's Principles of the Runes, read the whole of chapter 3, entitled "Deeper Mysteries of the Runes".p 38-68.

Here Aswynn looks at the runes at a deeper level, considering the essence of their nature, emotional and psychological aspects and relates them to the norse mythology. She explains how each of the rune's power can be utilized magically in the way we considered in the previous Lesson. We saw there though that the magical and divinatory meanings are closely related and you should find the meanings given in this chapter intensify your understanding of the meaning of the runes.

Further Exercises

  1. Using your local library, the net, or any other resources available to you, track down and investigate a group or organisation concerned with the runes. You should seek to answer the following questions

    • When they were founded
    • Why they were founded
    • What they believe
    • Number of members (if applicable)
    • What services they offer
