Incorporated into the design of the Rune School website and visible on each page are "guardian" runes, one for each main section of the site. Their role is purely symbolic but we hope they share their power with visitors to the site and aid them in their quest for knowledge. The runes selected to perform this role are very much a personal choice and we therefore recognize not everyone will agree with our choices.

Guardian Rune |
Reasons |
| News |
Jera (Ger) |
This is a rune dealing with time and personal experience. It represents growth over time, quite appropriate for a section which changes regularly. Part of its message is that your harvest is determined by the efforts you make, again appropriate for a section where we will be giving details of the development of the site. |
| Topics |
Laguz (Lagu) |
It is this section which holds our FAQ and is therefore the most likely to be visited by those new to the runes. Hence it is overseen by a rune of initiation. Moreover, one linked with psychic development which we hope will help open visitors' minds. Finally it is a rune linked with secrets, again appropriate for the FAQ. |
| Lessons |
Ansuz (Os) |
Linked with Odin, there could be no other possible guardian rune for the introductory rune course. It relates to intelligence, communication, teaching and learning, clearly all highly appropriate to academic study. |
| Resources |
Fehu (Feoh) |
Within this section of the site you will find details of commercial services, rune vendors, books etc. It seems appropriate then for the rune of mobile and material wealth to oversee it. |
| Search |
Pertho (Peorth) |
As a rune of problem-solving and of revealing that which is hidden or lost, we thought this the ideal Guardian for our search pages. |
| Links |
Kenaz (Cen) |
This is a rune of light which illuminates the path ahead, useful as you journey away from our website. In addition it is associated with creativity and the transmission of knowledge, just like the Web itself. |
| Exams |
Uruz (Ur) |
A rune of challenge and questing. Generally more physical testing than intellectual but the terrifying reputation of the Auroch well fits how many students view examinations so we thought it appropriate. |
|
General
(non-specific pages)
|
Dagaz (Daeg) |
A rune which marks the moment of break-through, that brings enlightenment and transforms life so that it will never be the same again which we thought was an excellent metaphor for both the runes themselves and the School. |
