Firewall UsersCertain firewall products, Norton amongst them, suppress a variable normally sent out by web browsers called the http_referer (sic) variable. This is an entirely innoculous variable which tells a webserver which webpage you viewed before the one you are viewing. Many sites, including The Rune School, use this for security purposes. If the information which is being received by our site comes directly from a page on our site then it can be trusted. Should you use the Campus and receive an error alone the lines of "Sorry..cannot run from here" or "you do not have permission to run this script" then something about your local configuration is blocking transmission of this key variable. Please note, the problem is at YOUR end, with YOUR local configuration, there is nothing the School can do to help you with this. In most cases you will need to go into your security/firewall software's configuration options and add us to the list of trusted sites. You need to ensure all the following are included: rs-campus.net, runeschool.org and faelord.propagation.net Users of Norton Personal Firewall can find full instructions on how to configure their software at the Symantec Technical Support website. Please report all problems with the website (other than ones like this that you can solve yourself) to webmaster@runeschool.org |
