Rune School Staff

Tutors and Examiners(s)

The Rune School is looking for people with at least five years experience in the runes, either divination or magic, to join its staff and help prepare courses and mark coursework.

Tutors - Duties:

Take chief responsibility for development of an area of the curriculum which is of interest to you
To locate reading material for students
Develop and update course modules
To set and where necessary mark course assignments
To liaise with the Director and other staff and contribute generally to the academic mission of the School

A knowledge coupled with practical experience in either or both the areas of magic and divination is required, along with subsidiary knowledge in one or more of the following fields, history/archaeology of the runes, Norse mythology, Norse/Saxon literature, Old Icelandic, Old English, Germanic Metaphysics or Rune Lore.

Examiners -Duties:

To take chief responsibility for assessment of an area of the curriculum which is of interest to you
To receive and advise upon both teaching material and examination questions
To receive and mark examination papers which are assigned to you
To receive and confirm papers failed by other Examiners
To advise the Director and QAC on matters in relation to assessment

A detailed knowledge and understanding of the areas mentioned above for tutors is required along with the ability to work to tight deadlines. Workload will be less regular than for tutors but will be intense during particular periods. We estimate it will average out to about two hours a week across the year.

All positions are currently unpaid however the School is investigating ways to offer a limited level of remuneration. However these will never be positions for people seeking riches. We want people like us, who feel they have benefited from the runes and welcome the opportunity to give something back passing on their knowledge to others.
